There's an interview with SAMO's Paul Miller in this month's issue of CMM, about the making and selling of vinyl records in 2010.

Double Negative - Daydreamnation
{Jul 30 2010}
With what will undoubtably be seen as one of the best hardcore/punk rock releases of the year, Double Negative's new record Daydreamnation is finally out.

Our friends at Sorry State Records, and SAMO media made sure that this release was going to look as unique and next-level as the record deserved.

Here are the specs: 800 black and 200 hot pink opaque 12" records with 2/2 11x11 inserts, obi strips and the piece de resistance: a silver foil board record jacket with blind emboss on the front and back, and hot pink PMS ink for the band's symbol.

Check out the photo below, and get more action shots courtesy of the SAMO media facebook page (linked below):

The Science of Vinyl
{Mar 20 2010}
Ever wonder what a record groove looks like way up close? I found this (link below) on a site called Synthgear, where they took it upon themselves to examine a groove under a microscope, magnified by 1000 times. I posted a pic of it here, but check the link for descriptions and other shots. Pretty neat.

Brand new site!
{Mar 01 2010}
Welcome to the new SAMO media website, which was badly in need of a make-over until today!

I'd like to thank our friends at The Takeover Group for their work in creating the site - you can check them out here: http://www.takeoverstudio.com

There are lots of changes, such as new package deals reflecting our lowered 2010 rates, FAQ's, photo galleries, and templates. Take a look around and let us know what you think! Updates will be frequent (I hope), including the NEWS section, where we'll show off some new projects and share info about the worlds of CD and vinyl.

Hope you like the new site - thanks for dropping in.

And as a bonus, here is a great video from 1937 featuring Duke Ellington and the record production process as it was back then.
